Well, after a very successful Beta release in November, the time has come to launch the official release of Userful MultiSeat Linux 2011!  The software now turns 1 PC into 11, enabling up to 11 students to use different applications at the same time from one host computer.  Each student is equipped with their own monitor, keyboard, and mouse.  Our goal with Userful MultiSeat is to help schools quickly deploy large numbers of computer stations for a very low cost, whether in their classrooms, computer labs, or school library.

Here are some additional highlights of what Userful MultiSeat Linux 2011 offers:

  • Comes bundled with 100s of free educational software applications
  • Includes a suite of tools for managing classroom computers
  • Plug and play - 30 minute system set up, including apps and OS installation!
  • 1-click install
  • High performance streaming video
  • Available in 12 languages
  • Low cost - only $59 per seat pricing for education use

So what does this mean? Ministries of Education, governments, and NGOs from all over the world can deploy more than two times as many computers for the same budget dollars using familiar and flexible, standard PC hardware, accompanied by a simple low-cost USB device.  On a global scale that means millions of additional children can now gain computer access for the first time, using money already set aside by governments and NGOs for digital inclusion.  Read more...

One of the United Nations' millenium development goals is to end poverty by bringing primary education to children everywhere by 2015.  Our mission to bring sustainable multiseat computing to the world is well under way.  We've been involved in one of the largest digital inclusion initiatives in the world to date, with an historic deployment of over 350,000 linux computer workstations in Brazil.  So far, our software is being used in over 50,000 schools worldwide, providing millions of students with access to an education using computers.
